It’s the little things.

After reading Adobe Illustrator manuals and CS4 for Dummies for the past two months (sporadically, OK?), I finally managed to make myself a pretty page. On to Dreamweaver and making my website JUST as attractive. Considering how long Illustrator took and how much longer InDesign might take, it could be a while… But I AM accomplishing things. And clearly not writing. One challenge at a time.

Writing isn’t going well. My plan to split the story up isn’t working out as smoothly as I thought it would. So I have summoned the help of some writer friends who asked me to join their writing group about a year and a half ago. I get to talk shop!

So lazy…

But I have excuses. A head cold worthy of prescription drugs made me feel like I’ve missed a month of my life instead of just a week.

And to some degree, success! After long weeks, an evening in the backyard with some wine and some good conversation, I have finally figured out how to divide the 230,000 work monstrosity into TWO novels. Things might work out after all. Still a lot of work to do with cutting down the first part.

Are you kidding?

Finally sitting down to really work on this, and oh my god 230,000 words!?!?! I can’t believe it. I suppose that’s what I get for editing/improving/working for ten years on a story that was long to begin with… Let’s see. In comparison, the first Harry Potter was 65,000 words. Twilight is 120,000. Really? I have to cut this thing down that much? I suppose I had better get busy…
