And this is why. I’ve had Italian Cafe and French Cafe for a while now and they’re fantastic. But my boss recently met one of the owners/producers/head honcho guys on his trip to the New York, and came back with a stash of CDs for me. (Well…I’m sure they were for him, but he didn’t even have them taken out of his bag before they were in my hands and out the door.)
This is cover of Toto’s Africa, only it’s like no other cover I’ve heard. It’s amazing. A French rap version with Senegalese beats. Could you have even imagined something so magical?
And that’s just the start. I have Swing Around the World, Afro-Latin Party, Louisiana Gumbo, Music from the Coffee Lands, a bunch of samplers… It was super funny because when my boss mentioned the world music I kind of laughed and said, “Oh, you mean like all those free ones that they give away on Amazon?” And not that I’m knocking those free ones they give away–most of those are pretty amazing, too.
But the Putumayo collections are phenomenal. They will make you so happy. I promise.
